I was with the family in the Botanic Gardens one sunday afternoon. I had deliberately left my camera at home but a statute of Socrates took my eye.
I decided there and then I'd come back alone on another day and take a few shots. This is one of the few times that I knew before I arrived at the place a week or so later that I'd have a meaningful photograph. The hand, which looks incredibly human, just does it for me. I have a Black & White version too, which I love.
Recently the sculpture was cleaned and polished so its not as weathered looking now.
