Trying to take photographs at Fleadhs & pub sessions is fraught with poor light. I'm sure the Colombian Miners, who were rescued after being trapped for months underground, were the envy of Traditional Musicians who seem to just love the darkness!
So if some of my images are very grainy its because I am trying to shoot under the available light. I hate using Flash as it usually kills the atmosphere in the pub. When I do use it I try to bounce if off the ceiling to make it softer.
This night at the James Morrison Festival the light in the pub was hopeless. I was resigned to put the camera away when the young woman with the flute started to text. The light from her phone lit-up her face...just shows how poor the light was if a phone looks so powerful!
