I love this area and several years ago when still using Film I spent quite a few hours just rambling and taking panorama photographs here. It was winter and there were no leaves on the trees so the light was plentiful.
In July, of course, its the opposite - trees full of leaves and little light so I needed a tripod. Sometimes a tripod slows me down and makes me think hard about the image I'm trying to create. The long exposures add greater clarity to the landscape but the water, falling over the rocks and turning a milky white adds something else.
